what the fuck is happening anymore

I went to San Japan for the first time this year and what a load of shit. For the most part. And I don't think I know how to address this issue. And I went to the Ren Faire this year too, and I see simular issues with SanJapan that I had with Sherwood RenFaire. could we call it... the normiefication of special interests? Simply put. TOO MANY DANG PEOPLE! There is not enough space and there is not enough things to do in their small space. Sherwood also had the issue of not having any free/accessiable water at an outdoor event in the texas heat- though in March, prior years were a bit cooler than it is now. But Hey, it is August and SanJapan was an indoor event with plenty of water fountains- thank God.
I think I'm being fairly harsh here, because I want people to enjoy stupid things and gather and have fun and dress as homestuck characters in the good year of our lord 2025. But there was maybe one or two panels happening at any given moment, with overcrowded con grounds. Are you really going to boast being the biggest con in south texas yet, have nothing happening. Really, you have the panel rooms taken up with the labubu meetup and lolita meetup and danganronpa meetup, and ONE small panel room with people waiting down the hall for a mediocre "is it Hentai or not?" panel just because theres NOTHING ELSE? I'm sorry but the communities will Organically make meetups. I remember the first con I went to people would say "Come to The Stairs Under the Main Hall At 7PM For The Homestuck Meetup!" and they would have flyers- it is not up to the con to make these panels. The other cons I have been to have like 7 panels going at once. This helps disperse people and gives everyone something to do. I feel like the Con's management team has poor time managment and not enough help.
Simply put. Where is my autists speaking about their special interests?
Why was there no panels happening? Was there no staff or volenteers? Have a open call to volenteers. I know plenty of people that will volenteer for a few hours if they can get into a con for free. By the way you don't need people at every staircase and every panel room checking to see if everyone has badges. Whatever, people will get in, for the most part people are going to be honest and just have the people checking the badges where it matters- the game hall; the cosplay contest and the vendors market. Was it a problem with the convention center? I've never been to a con thats so hawkish about badges. I have heard many stories on how convention centers hate large cons. I guess I get it. I went to my first con when I was 16. It can be a preditory space, there was a weirdo loud deadpool cosplayer that was creeping on all the younger kids there. But that was 2013, we're in 2025. I don't know if this is a theme that we still see, as I don't have kids nor interact with younger people too often. Con spaces also know people get rowdy at anime cons. I've been to many a con where chairs start getting tossed around. This probably doesn't look good to the venues holding these conventions.
However, there is less things for people to do and this world sucks. More people are becoming autistic losers every year, and we all want to dweeb out about stupid shit.
Is the community ready to handle this influx of kinda quirked up normal people, and are the more normal people ready to accept us hardcore weirdos?
Can our community get our shit together?

THE GOOD OF IT ALL
There was some fun vendors. We got some cool things, i got a bondage rabbit bag and my partner was able to get some high quality anime girl figures. We got to see a wrestling match in the hall, and the freeplay arcade was awesome! Lots of games you can just walk around and find some open ones. Some of the cabs got abused. RIP the Melty Blood cab. Sigh... I could not play Hisui as Hisui. But we live on because I played Scatman 17 times on Chunithum. I spent the whole day with friends and my lovely partner, and this was the best part of the day. There was also a very cool game history museum, where they had some old playable games and I was able to see some home gaming systems from the 70's- and the gaming systems too had that really cool wood paneling that was on everything in the 70's! I don't think those MagnaVox Odysseys worked but honestly... I don't care, thats fine. I saw a game controller where one side is a joystick, the other side is a steering wheel. I think the other one was buttons... all in a triangular shape... Gaming history is really facinating because it's so new a lot of people aren't really thinking about preserving the real older games on the hardware side. Sweaty nostalgia jerk offs will save their childhood machines at least.
There was also a very sick car show. Bunch of awesome wraps on cool cars. Some of them we see in Austin too.
